Before & After

Project Story
All Under One Roof remodeled the walkout basement of an Overland Park home in the fall of 2021, pulling up the carpet & an old bar & rebuilding the space around a new wet bar, a stone wall & new floors throughout. The work ran from late August to mid November 2021.
The bar
The new bar is an L shaped run of dark painted shaker cabinets under granite, with a raised bar top on the room side & a dark undermount sink with a copper bar faucet. Behind it, a stone wall carries a floating shelf with lighting tucked underneath, so the wall is lit without a fixture in sight.
An antique piece set into the stone
An antique carved wood back bar was set into the stone wall at the end of the run, framed by brass sconces & a painted panel base, so the old piece reads as part of the room rather than furniture pushed against a wall.
Floors & finish
Carpet came out across the level & vinyl plank flooring went down in its place, running from the bar through the family room to the patio doors. Walls & trim were repainted throughout, with the existing stone fireplace kept as the focal point of the family room.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the consultation process work?
Our consultation process starts by the clients filling out our consultation request form. We then call you to talk through your project. If the project requires a site visit with any of our consulting staff, such as our architect, engineer, or interior designer, we will likely request a consultation agreement to be signed & approved, & that site visit work is billed at $85 an hour. If you can provide site photos & measurements, or your own CAD drawing, we are glad to review it without a site visit.
Does All Under One Roof take small jobs?
Yes. All Under One Roof takes jobs of any size, from small jobs through to structural renovations, custom home additions, exterior remodeling & outdoor living spaces. Every job starts the same way, with the consultation request form.
Is vinyl plank a good floor for a basement?
It is a common choice because it handles below grade conditions better than carpet or solid wood. In this Overland Park basement the carpet was removed & vinyl plank was laid across the whole level.
Can an antique piece be built into a remodel?
Yes. On this project an antique carved back bar was set into the new stone wall & framed with sconces & a painted base, so it reads as part of the room.
How long does a basement remodel take?
This one ran from late August to mid November 2021, roughly eleven weeks from tear out to finished bar, floors & paint. Scope drives the schedule more than square footage.
